Original Pixar movies are increasingly rare next to the sequel-heavy slate around it, and Casarosa’s track record for warm, low-stakes coming-of-age stories set in Italy makes this one of the more promising family-watch prospects on this list.

The sequel news is a genuine mixed bag for planning purposes. Incredibles 3 finally moving to the next generation — Dash proving himself in a new superhero league, with the returning Edna Mode as a hook — is the most anticipated by far given how long the wait has been since 2018’s Incredibles 2. Lilo & Stitch 2 starting production in Hawaii this year with the original director back is a good sign for quality over a rushed cash-in. Coco 2, on the other hand, sits three years out (November 2029) — worth knowing about, not worth planning around yet.
