The release date — and how we got here

GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026. The road to that date had exactly two turns, both announced by Rockstar directly: the game was originally windowed for fall 2025, moved to May 26, 2026 in a Newswire post that came with an apology and the promise that the extra time was for polish, and then shifted once more to November 19, 2026. Since then, Take-Two’s leadership has publicly and repeatedly committed to the November date — including stating on the record that the game will not be delayed again.

Is a third delay physically impossible? No. But a publisher rarely stakes its CEO’s credibility on a date it doesn’t believe in, and pre-orders opening in June is the strongest practical signal yet: the machine is in launch mode.

Setting and story — What the trailers actually confirmed

Everything official flows from two trailers (December 2023 and May 2025) and Rockstar’s site: GTA 6 takes place in the state of Leonida — Rockstar’s Florida — anchored by a modern-day Vice City. The story follows Lucia and Jason, partners in crime and in life, in the series’ first dual-protagonist setup since GTA 5 and its first female lead in the modern era. The tone the trailers sell is a Bonnie-and-Clyde arc filtered through social-media-age satire: bodycam clips, livestreams, and Florida-man energy as worldbuilding.

That’s the confirmed core. Character rosters beyond the two leads, the map’s full extent, mission structure, and everything about the online mode remain officially unannounced — whatever you’ve read about them belongs to the rumor pile, not this page.

Editions and pre-order bonuses, decoded

Pre-orders opened June 25, 2026 in two editions. Here’s what the money actually buys:

And Rockstar confirmed you can upgrade from Standard to Ultimate at any time, even after release, which removes the only real FOMO argument. Platforms — and the PC question

Confirmed platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That’s the complete list. No PC version has been announced for launch, and Rockstar has said nothing official about one. The series’ history (GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 both reached PC one to two years after console launch) makes a later PC port plausible — but plausible is not confirmed, and this page deals in confirmed. PC players planning around GTA 6 should plan around an unknown.

The rating — and the family conversation

GTA 6 carries a Mature 17+ rating badge on Sony’s official PlayStation store listing, with the formal ESRB register entry expected as launch approaches; PEGI 18 is the expected European equivalent. The content descriptors are the full GTA set — intense violence, blood and gore, strong sexual content, nudity, strong language, drugs and alcohol. For the group-chat debates, the current official silence covers: any PC version, the GTA Online successor’s structure and monetization, the soundtrack, the map size, post-launch content plans, and any third trailer’s contents — Take-Two has teased that more marketing is coming, and nothing beyond that. When any of these turn official, they’ll appear on this page; until then, treat every headline about them as speculation.
