Leonida Gets Bigger, and Wetter
Rockstar has put out a fresh batch of GTA 6 details, released alongside Game Informer’s October cover story, and the German coverage counts more than 50 of them. The headline: the state of Leonida is roughly twice the size of GTA 5’s map, split into six regions. GTA 6 launches on November 19.
What Is Actually New
The animal count is the number that stands out. Alongside the birds and land mammals, the details mention sharks, whales and sea turtles, and fur that reacts to water and dirt. Rockstar is also bringing back the animal study system from Red Dead Redemption 2.
Weather is the other big claim: localized rain, so it can pour in one district while the sun shines in the next, plus tropical storms and hurricanes. Objects, hair and debris react to wind.
Then there is the stuff you do between missions: diving, kayaking, mini golf, billiards, base jumping, street and off-road racing. Fast travel can run through a ride-share service, which is a practical idea on a map this big.
One caveat: this is Rockstar describing its own game. Nobody outside the studio has played it, so treat “twice the size” and “170 species” as a promise until the launch. We already collected what is officially settled in our everything confirmed guide, and the August showcase is broken down in our Extended Look recap.
The Parent Question Stays the Same
None of this makes GTA 6 a kids’ game. A bigger map with kayaking in it is still a Mature 17+ crime game. If a ten-year-old in your house is asking, start with our is GTA 6 OK for kids guide before you start the console.

The November 19 launch on PS5. Digital stock does not sell out, so there is no rush to pre-order.

What’s Next
A map that large is also a download, so plan storage and the console decision before November: our PS5 vs Xbox comparison and the storage guide cover both. Standard Edition pre-orders for PS5 and Xbox Series X are open.
The Dadnology Take
Size and animal counts are the easy things to promise. The more interesting question is whether Leonida feels lived in at the size Rockstar is claiming, and nobody can answer that yet. Impressive list, unproven until November.
