For the Whole Family: Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 season 2

Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 season 2 — Netflix. Ten episodes under half an hour each, and the short runtime is the feature — the rare franchise spin-off you can watch with a ten-year-old on a school night rather than saving for after bedtime.

Once the Kids Are in Bed: Neagley

Neagley — Prime Video. The one Reacher fans have been waiting three seasons for. All eight episodes at once, no weekly wait, and the smartest thing it can do is resist becoming Ritchson’s show.

The Classic: Alien

Alien — Netflix. Still there from the 1 September catalogue drop. Slow Horses week is the right week for it: both are about competent people discovering that the institution behind them is not on their side.

Reacher season 4 wraps up Wednesday 16 September on Prime Video. Gone Tomorrow’s finale, moved to Philadelphia, hands straight over to Neagley — premiering the same Wednesday, on the same service.

South Park season 29

South Park season 29 arrives Thursday 17 September on Paramount+. The reliable one. Twenty-nine seasons in and still willing to say the thing everyone else is tiptoeing around. (Comedy Central the night before.)

MobLand season 2

MobLand season 2 arrives Friday 18 September on Paramount+. Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren all back for ten episodes, weekly on Fridays through November 20.

• Ted Lasso season 4 — Apple TV+, new episode Wednesday 16 September. Ten episodes, back to the tighter season-one shape. Richmond is not the story any more, which is the most interesting decision the show has made since it started.
• Lanterns — HBO Max, new episode Sunday 20 September. The DCU going deliberately slow: a detective story with Green Lanterns in it rather than another origin, eight episodes finishing 4 October.

What should we watch this week (September 14-20, 2026)?

Our top tip is Slow Horses season 6 on Apple TV+, the event of the month. For the whole family, Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 season 2 is short enough to watch with a ten-year-old on a school night. Once the kids are in bed, Neagley drops all eight episodes at once on Prime Video. And if you want a classic, Alien is still sitting on Netflix from the 1 September catalogue drop.

Is Neagley worth watching without seeing Reacher season 4 first?

No — watch Reacher season 4 first. Its finale, streaming the same Wednesday as Neagley premieres, is the direct handoff: Neagley picks up characters and stakes the finale sets up. Both are on Prime Video, so there is nothing stopping you from running them back to back.
