Toy Story 5 lands Wednesday on Disney+, and the honest move is to watch Toy Story 3 first — it is still the better film, and it sets up exactly what a fifth entry has to live up to. Everything else this week is a backlog: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom for the group, MobLand for after bedtime, and Aliens if Alien scratched the itch last month. Ted Lasso, Slow Horses and Lanterns are all still mid-run.

Toy Story 3 — Disney+. Toy Story 5 arrives Wednesday, so this is the week to run the one that takes an unsuspecting father apart in its final ten minutes — and the film any fifth entry has to measure up to.

For the Whole Family: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (4/5)

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom — Hulu. Landed at the start of the month and got buried. The back half abandons the theme-park formula and turns into a gothic haunted-house film with a raptor in the hallway — better as a group watch than its reputation suggests.

Once the Kids Are in Bed: MobLand Season 2

MobLand season 2 — Paramount+. Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, ten episodes running weekly through November. Mid-run by now, which means three are already banked and you can actually get going. If you’re behind on last week’s Reacher finale or Neagley premiere instead, Prime Video’s free trial covers both.

The Classic: Aliens

Aliens — Netflix, alongside Alien. Run them a week apart if you have not already. Cameron turns Scott’s haunted house into a war film, and somehow neither version makes the other worse.

Toy Story 5 arrives Wednesday 23 September on Disney+. The biggest arrival on the list by some distance. We have not reviewed it yet, so no verdict from us — but the series hub runs the first four in order if a refresher is due before this one.

• Ted Lasso season 4 — Apple TV+, new episode Wednesday 23 September. Ten episodes, back to the tighter season-one shape. Richmond is not the story any more, which is the most interesting decision the show has made since it started.
• Slow Horses season 6 — Apple TV+, new episode Wednesday 23 September. Six episodes adapting Joe Country and Slough House, the books where the series stops circling its own history and walks into it. Six seasons in, it has never had a bad one.
• Lanterns — HBO Max, new episode Sunday 27 September. A detective story with Green Lanterns in it rather than another origin, finishing 4 October.

What should we watch this week (September 21-27, 2026)?

Our top tip is Toy Story 3 on Disney+, the setup for Toy Story 5’s arrival on Wednesday. For the whole family, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is on Hulu and got buried when it landed. Once the kids are in bed, MobLand season 2 is mid-run on Paramount+. And for a classic, Aliens is on Netflix alongside Alien.

Is Toy Story 5 out yet, and should we watch the others first?

Toy Story 5 arrives Wednesday 23 September on Disney+. We have not reviewed it yet, so there is no verdict from us — but if it has been a while, Toy Story 3 is the one worth rewatching first, both for the recap and because it is the better film.
