The Spider-Man Universe
Every Web-Slinger — Across Five Eras, Three Studios & One Family Sofa
Welcome to the Dadnology HQ for Spider-Man — the one superhero this household has never grown out of. Whether you grew up taping a VHS of the Raimi trilogy, queued up Into the Spider-Verse for the kids, or lost a weekend swinging through Insomniac's New York on the PS5, there's a version of the wall-crawler for every era of your parenting life. This hub pulls every Spidey film, show, game and LEGO set we've reviewed into one place, ranked honestly.
Five eras, three studios, one wall-crawler. Spider-Man's screen history is genuinely chaotic, so here's the dad-friendly map. Sam Raimi (2002-2007) invented the modern superhero movie with Tobey Maguire. Marc Webb (2012-2014) rebooted it with Andrew Garfield's underrated, skater-cool Peter. Sony's animated Spider-Verse (2018, 2023) rewired what cinema can look like and gave us Miles Morales — two perfect 10s. Marvel Studios' MCU trilogy (2017-2021) put Tom Holland's Peter into the Avengers via a famous shared-custody deal between Sony and Disney. And Sony's live-action universe keeps building out the wider mythos — from Spider-Noir to the "Spidey-less" villain films.
The villains got their own movies. Because Sony owns 900+ Spider-Man-associated characters, they've spun Venom, Morbius, Madame Web and Kraven into standalone films — often without Spidey appearing at all. The quality swings violently, from trash-fun (Venom) to meme-tier misfire (Morbius, Madame Web). We include them here because they're part of the web, but we grade them like a dad who grew up on this character actually would: no curve for the logo.
The best Spider-Man you can actually play. Don't sleep on the games. Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man, Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2 are, frankly, the best superhero experience on this page — the closest thing to *being* Spider-Man, and a fantastic shared screen with an older kid.
Use the timeline below for the full chronological journey, the ranking table to settle the "which one's best" argument at dinner, and the media sections to jump straight to any review.

🎛️ The Dadnology Spider-Man Standard
Spider-Man doesn't get graded on nostalgia. The Raimi films earned their reputation, the Spider-Verse films re-earned it, and the Insomniac games out-Spider-Man most of the movies. But a logo isn't a free pass — Morbius is a 5 and Madame Web is a 4, and they're on this page too. We rank the whole web film-by-film and game-by-game: the question is never 'is it Spider-Man?', it's 'is it good, and would I share it with my kid?'
