The last look before December
Warner Bros. released the final trailer for Dune: Part Three on October 27, 2026, the last one after the March teaser and the full trailer in July. Seven weeks before the film opens in theaters and IMAX on December 18, it is the final proper look at how Denis Villeneuve closes his trilogy, and we are really looking forward to this one.
🏜️ This story is part of our Dune Universe Hub: both Villeneuve film reviews, the Frank Herbert reading order and our beginner’s guide to the saga.
Why it matters for dads
The studio’s own synopsis sets the tone in one line: “As Emperor of the known universe, Paul possesses more power than a single man was ever meant to wield.” That is the Dune Messiah story. Paul, played again by Timothée Chalamet, now rules the empire his holy war won, and the threats come from inside his own circle. Zendaya is back as Chani, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho and Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, with Robert Pattinson joining as Scytale and Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia.
If you only remember the sandworms, the homework is worth it. Our Dune (2021) review and Dune: Part Two review both landed at 5/5, and the Dune films in order page lays out the rewatch. The Dune 2-film collection in 4K covers both in one box. If you would rather read ahead, our Dune Messiah review explains why the second book reads so differently from the first, and the Dune Messiah ebook is a short one.
What’s next
The trailers are done, so the next news is the rating and the reviews. We will watch it as soon as it is out and review it right after. Until then, two evenings for Part One and Part Two are the best use of the next seven weeks.
The Dadnology Take
Two 5/5s in, we are really looking forward to the finale. Dune Messiah is the book where Paul stops being the hero of his own story, and the studio’s synopsis says that is the film we are getting. December 18 is circled.
