Reacher season 4 (August 12) is the one we’ve circled hardest. As a Reacher fan going back to the books, this is the pick of the month, full stop. Season 4 adapts Gone Tomorrow, Lee Child’s 13th novel — the one that opens with Reacher spotting a suicide bomber on a New York subway car at two in the morning. Sudden Death (1995) joins on August 1, and it’s an easy classic recommendation — genuinely great 90s action with Jean-Claude Van Damme doing Die Hard at a hockey arena, which is a better pitch than it has any right to be.

Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart as two intergalactic cops working a murder case in the American heartland — that’s a cosmic property deliberately shrunk down to a grounded detective story, and it’s exactly the kind of premise that either sings or collapses. Ted Lasso season 4 (August 5) is, in our book, one of the best shows ever made returning after a long wait. Ten episodes roll out weekly through October 7, with Ted back at Richmond coaching a second-division women’s side — the thread season 3 left dangling. There’s not much more to say than that: the anticipation is real, and so is the bar it has to clear. We’re hoping it holds up to the expectations it built for itself, and honestly hoping it ends up one of the highlights of the year.

Speed (1994) arrives August 1 — another 90s action classic, this one with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves at their most watchable. If you haven’t revisited it in a while, this is the reminder.
My Life with the Walter Boys season 3 (August 6) is a fun, easy watch for the teens in the house — not our usual beat, but genuinely entertaining if that’s what’s on the family menu this month.
Mourinho (August 11) is a documentary we’re genuinely curious about. Whatever you think of him, José Mourinho is a fascinating personality, and a doc built around him has real potential.

Star Wars Visions: The Ninth Jedi (August 5) — this one has our full attention. “The Ninth Jedi” was one of the standout entries in the original Visions anthology, and it’s now getting a full eight-episode limited series under the new “Visions Presents” banner, continuing Lah Kara’s story rather than starting a fresh anthology round. It lands on Disney+ and Hulu the same day.
