This week at a glance

Three shows decide the week: Slow Horses ends its sixth season on Wednesday, and VisionQuest and Avatar: Seven Havens are both airing right now. Tulsa King started Friday, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 starts Tuesday, The Terminal List returns on Wednesday, and Cowboys & Aliens is the family movie night.

What we’d watch this week

Top tip of the week: Slow Horses season 6 finale

Slow Horses season 6 — Apple TV+, the finale on Wednesday October 21. The sixth season is again absolutely fantastic, six episodes adapting Joe Country and Slough House, and the finale is the reason to be caught up by Wednesday. If you are new to it, why Slow Horses is so good tells you where to start.

Also a top tip: VisionQuest

VisionQuest — Disney+, premiered Wednesday October 14. The most anticipated Marvel series in a while, and the start has been very promising: it closes the story that began with WandaVision and Agatha All Along, so watch those two first if you have not. Two more two-episode drops are still to come, then single episodes on November 4 and the finale on November 11, so there is time to catch up.

Also a top tip: Avatar: Seven Havens

Avatar: Seven Havens — Paramount+, premiered October 9, with three new episodes every Friday and four on the October 30 finale, thirteen in all. It has started fantastically, and if you love this kind of animation and the Avatar universe, it fits in perfectly: a new Avatar and her twin in a world after Korra. Our reaction to the first three episodes is the place to start.

For the whole family: Cowboys & Aliens

Cowboys & Aliens — Netflix. Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in a western that gets invaded, our pick from Netflix’s 1 October drop and a proper movie night, though aimed at older kids rather than little ones. Night at the Museum, also from the 1 October drop on Hulu, is the gentler option for younger children.

Once the kids are in bed: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 — Netflix, Tuesday October 20, in four days. The anime sequel, with mature content, so it waits until the house is quiet. If you want the backstory first, our Cyberpunk 2077 review covers the game it grew out of.

The classic: Gladiator (5/5)

Gladiator — Netflix, Wednesday October 21. Both films join the catalogue together, and Ridley Scott’s original is a perfect 5 from us. If you wonder whether either suits a younger teenager, Is Gladiator OK for kids? answers it. The original is also on 4K disc if you would rather own it.

Also landing this week

  • The Terminal List season 2 — Prime Video, Wednesday October 21. All eight episodes at once, four years after season 1, with Chris Pratt back as James Reece. A grown-up evening, and the 30-day Prime Video trial covers anyone not on the service yet.
  • Where’s Wanda? season 2 — Apple TV+, Wednesday October 21. The German family comedy-thriller returns.
  • Lupin part 4 — Netflix, Friday October 23. Omar Sy’s Assane Diop gets dragged out of a prison sentence he wanted to finish quietly.
  • Clayface — in theaters, Friday October 23. Rated R, a body-horror thriller rather than a family superhero film, directed by James Watkins from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini.

Still running

  • Tulsa King season 4 — Paramount+, Fridays, started October 16. A must-watch: ten new episodes, with Gretchen Mol joining the cast.
  • VisionQuest — Disney+, Wednesdays, finale November 11. Eight episodes in all, see the top tips above.
  • Avatar: Seven Havens — Paramount+, Fridays, finale October 30. Three new episodes on Friday and four on the finale.

Not seen it yet?

  • Matchbox (2026) review — Apple TV+. John Cena’s die-cast action comedy, a 4.5/5 from us and worth catching if it slipped past you.

The whole of October is laid out in New movies & shows coming in October 2026: Our top picks, and every date is on our release calendar, with the picks we would actually spend an evening on at the top.

What should we watch this week (October 19-25, 2026)?

Slow Horses ends its sixth season on Wednesday, and VisionQuest and Avatar: Seven Havens are the other two shows to be caught up on. For the whole family, Cowboys & Aliens is on Netflix. Once the kids are in bed, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 starts Tuesday on Netflix and The Terminal List season 2 follows on Wednesday on Prime Video.

When is the Slow Horses season 6 finale?

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 on Apple TV+. Season 6 runs six episodes and adapts Joe Country and Slough House.

Is VisionQuest worth watching?

Yes, and it is one of our top picks. It closes the story that began with WandaVision and Agatha All Along, so watch those first if you have not.

When does The Terminal List season 2 come out?

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 on Prime Video, with all eight episodes available at once.

Is Clayface OK for kids?

No. Clayface, in theaters on October 23, is rated R and is a body-horror thriller, not a family superhero film.
